Duffy is a dance director, educator, and writer from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She danced with the Joffrey Ballet based in New York and in Chicago, and is a director and repetiteur for The Gerald Arpino Foundation. She currently serves as Programs Advisor for the Upper Division at the Ballet Hispánico School of Dance, and is on the dance faculty at Barnard College.


Ms. Duffy began her training at Ballets de San Juan with Maria Carrera and Ana Garcia, dancing the 19th-century ballet classics, Balanchine repertory, and working with international guest artists such as Fernando Bujones, Frederic Franklin, Melissa Hayden, and Ivan Nagy. While touring the world with the Joffrey she danced leading roles in ballets by Robert Joffrey, Gerald Arpino, Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, John Cranko, Agnes DeMille, Kurt Jooss, José Limon, Vicente Nebrada, and Ruth Page, and contemporary works by Alonzo King, David Parsons, Laura Dean, Ann Reinking, and many others. She also danced the Ballets Russes reconstructions and was featured in Arpino’s groundbreaking ballet Billboards, to music by Prince. Ms. Duffy has taught nationally and international and guest teaches for Ballet Hispánico company, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Steps on Broadway. Her students have gone on to dance for companies such as Ballet Hispánico, Ballet West, Boston Ballet, Complexions, Dance Theater of Harlem, TanzCompany Innsbruck, Les Ballets Trockadero, Visceral Dance, on Broadway, and more. She holds degrees from Columbia University and NYU, and has interviewed dancers for the Dance Oral History Project at the NYPL. Her writing has been published in The Massachusetts Review, Eye on Dance and the Arts, Dance Informa, and Esferas. She is a member of the Latinx Dance Educators Alliance and the National Dance Educators Organization, and will be assistant curator for the Joffrey Ballet Exhibition at the NYPL opening in September of 2024. Ms. Duffy enjoys teaching the BH company and guiding the next generation of dancers at the Ballet Hispanico School of Dance.
